Chapter 2: A Dream Resembling Reality (2)

“Oh? Was the door always this stiff?”

“My fair maiden! Please, I beg of you! Let me finish my words!!!”

The corner of Lin Qian’s eyes began to twitch once more, as an indescribable sense of panic coursed through his bloodstream and permeated every fiber of his being.

“You should listen to me first. Entering the library is just the first step. After that, you must find and capture me within 5 minutes. If you succeed, I will be at your disposal. However, if you fail to capture me or let me escape…”

“I’ll be obedient, quiet, and do whatever you want me to-”

The young girl interrupted Lin Qian’s words with a soft and sweet voice.

“I’m so happy~ You’ve never treated me this well before… You actually gave me 5 minutes~”

“But I don’t know you at all, fair maiden! There is a culprit behind every unjust act and a debtor for every debt! Have you mistaken me for someone else?!!!”

The girl seemed to not have heard Lin Qian’s desperate cries, as she muttered to herself, lost in thought. “Is this what it’s like to be doted on?”

“I really love it…”

“I’m coming for you~ Hehe…”

“I hereby declare ~the start~ of the game~”

“You… won’t escape, Lin Qian.”

Her voice suddenly went silent.

The air grew eerily quiet.

‘God darn it…’

‘Can’t you wait until I’ve finished my words?’

Lin Qian swallowed his saliva with difficulty, before muffling his footsteps and walking up the stairs.

He did not believe that the other party would simply let him go like that.

He had to find the surveillance room!

Lin Qian’s objective was extremely straightforward: Locate the surveillance room and monitor the young woman’s movement.

That was his only chance of escaping.

Her physical constitution was certainly incomparable to that of a writer like himself, who spent his days sitting in front of the computer, tapping on the keyboard, and constantly finding himself in the throes of financial hardship.

If this had occurred online while he was at his computer, he would have figuratively called upon the spirit of an immortal keyboard warrior and embarked on an epic battle, tirelessly engaging in countless rounds with his fingers dancing across the keys.

But at this moment, all he could do was resent his parents for not giving him an extra pair of feet.

At last, deep within the third floor, Lin Qian spotted the surveillance room of the library.

He slowly pushed its door open and sneaked inside.

After which, he locked the door and obstructed it with a chair.

As a writer who had delved into numerous depraved and dark web novels, often leaving them unfinished, he had crafted a multitude of characters whose lives were tragically cut short simply because they failed to close a door behind themselves.

He definitely could not allow himself to lose his life over such a pitiful mistake.

All of the surveillance equipment was operating in an orderly manner.

Lin Qian’s eyes speedily scanned every screen.

Finally, on a particular floor, he spotted the girl’s figure in a corridor.

Her face, with its absolutely beautiful oval shape, complemented her black hair that cascaded naturally down her shoulders. A pair of beautiful willow eyebrows enhanced the attractiveness of her lustrous heterochromatic blue-red eyes, as her flawless snow-white skin accentuated her features.

Her proportional legs, encased in elegant black knee-high lace stockings, exuded a graceful charm and showed no signs of excess flab. The petite white sports shoes on her feet seemed to ignite boundless fantasies in one’s imagination.

Such magnificent legs could only appear in anime and the creation of novel authors.

Her slightly protruding chest under her white uniform, combined with the light-blue pleated skirt, bestowed her an unique youthful beauty reminiscent of a sixteen to seventeen year old girl.

She was practically perfect, if one were to exclude the presence of a terrifying black metallic rod in her hand.

“Who is she exactly…?”

After a long moment of silence, Lin Qian shook his head.

He could not recall anything about this girl.

In essence, she was a complete stranger to him.

‘This lunatic must have mistaken me for the wrong person. I’m really screwed!’

“Damn it, I don’t care anymore. Why should I even care about the nature of our relationship? What’s more important is to find a way to escape as quickly as possible.”

Just as Lin Qian was mentally mapping out his escape route, the girl in the surveillance image abruptly came to a halt.

Lin Qian’s pupils suddenly shrank, as a bad feeling appeared in his heart.

He could only watch as the girl slowly turned around, raised her head, and fixed her sparkling eyes directly on the camera.

It was almost as if… she could perceive his gaze through it.

Beads-like sweat slowly trickled down from Lin Qian’s temple, eventually landing on the ground.

The girl’s head abruptly tilted downward at an awkward angle, her vermilion lips slightly opening and closing several times as she simultaneously made a peace sign towards the camera.

“Thud, thud, thud.” Lin Qian took several steps back, stumbling until he collided with a chair behind him.

He recalled the way the girl’s mouth had moved…

And his complexion suddenly turned pale.

“Damn it! She’s coming!”

Lin Qian swiftly cleared the objects blocking the door and ran out.

The shapes that the girl’s mouth formed directly corresponded to three words.

I Found You.

Lin Qian rushed through several rooms, until his eyes caught sight of a storeroom filled with numerous large cabinets.

He chose the cabinet nearest to the door and hid in there.

Directly behind him was a wall and before him a door. This finally gave him a small glimmer of security.

Lin Qian was depressed; He felt like crying, yet for some reason, tears eluded him.

At that moment, he desperately wished to sort out the emotions swirling in his mind.

However, there was absolutely no way for him to calm down the thoughts in his mind.

“Clink…”

The sharp and hoarse sound of metal scraping over the ground resounded in the nearby corridor.

Lin Qian covered his mouth and nose, not daring to let even the sound of his own breathing escape into the surrounding.

According to the rules, he only had to hide for 5 minutes.

A voice wafted past the storage room into the adjacent surveillance room.

“He isn’t here…”

The girl exited the surveillance room and came to a stop in the corridor.

Like a cloyingly sweet lollipop, her voice was filled with a seductive allure. “Lin Qian~ My dear classmate Lin Qian~? Ehehe…”

“If you lose, you’ll lose your freedom and be my boyfriend~”

“If I lose, I’ll lose my freedom and be your girlfriend~”

“What do you think about that? I think it’s not a bad deal. It’s quite fair, if you ask me…”

“If you are going to stay silent, I’m going to take it as a yes then~”

‘Hmph… Quite fair, my foot…’

‘I’d be a fool if I spoke up. I’m a college student, not your classmate! Just a glance at you is enough to tell me you’re some brat who is still in high school.’

Lin Qian inwardly sneered.

“Even that failed to get him out… Then I’ll have to search for him myself. Where could my adorable Lin Qian be hiding?”

“…”

The sound of scraping metal noises suddenly vanished.

Her footsteps had disappeared as well.

‘Don’t tell me she’s gone?’
