Chapter 34: This situation is somewhat wrong?

“Hmm?” The silver-haired girl who was carrying Ke’er in her embrace had slightly knitted her eyebrows. As if she had detected something, she quickly turned her eyes to the side.

“Let her go! You disgusting maggot!” Due to his heated head and hastiness, Ji Bai casually seized a long sword from the surrounding onlookers around him. Then, as if his body was made of lightning, he rushed towards her.  Like a momentary flash of lightning in a thunderstorm, the fierce and sharp sword tip sliced through the air towards her.

【Lightning-gale Decapitator】. With speed as its forte, it primarily utilized high speed to approach its target, attacking enemies who were rather agile. The silver-haired girl’s eyes narrowed as she saw this, she changed her mentality and her posture in less than a second because of the sudden situation.

‘Dang dong!’ The sound of metals colliding reverberated through the air, intense sparks began to rage out. The front end of the long sword had been tangled up by a few tiny bats radiating some form of black energy; It resembled a large incorporeal hand grabbing onto the front end of the sword.

“Who are you?” An indifferent and declarative question rang out. It was unknown whether the silver-haired girl was making a statement with her voice or was merely asking a question.  She narrowed her bloodstone-like eyes and sized up the youth in front of her, the man who had suddenly attacked.

“Let her go. I’ll send you to hell afterward.” Ji Bai, who was currently gripping on the sword hilt and undergoing a trial of strength, berated her coldly.

“…Is she your target?” She glanced at the fragile and delicate Ke’er in her arms, and then at the fiendish Ji Bai, whose hatred and vengeance was written all over his face. The silver-haired girl suddenly understood something. She instantly revealed a dangerous aura in her eyes.

Scarlet, blood-like magic began to revolve around her left ring finger. With a casual swing, the ring turned into a long blood-colored whip, with this weapon, she then used it to sweep downward. She seemingly had no intention of showing any mercy as the tip of the whip charged towards Ji Bai.

After chopping down the bats that were surrounding his sword into pieces, Ji Bai quickly turned the sharp end of his sword towards the horrifying attack of the long whip.

【Capric Counter】

‘Clang!’ As if it wasn’t bound by the laws of physics, the blood colored-whip that was originally supposed to hit Ji Bai’s body had suddenly taken an impossible trajectory, it had utterly changed direction. Following this, it attacked the handguard of the sword which was currently in a parrying stance. After a fierce collision sound, the shockwave from the handguard traveled through the long whip and into the girl’s body, this caused her to slightly stagger.

When experts exchanged blows, just a slight slip-up was enough to determine victory or defeat.

Ji Bai didn’t allow the chance to counterattack slip by. His long sword rushed forward, it teared everything in its way like a deadly strong wind.

However, what ought to have been a clean hit to the chest didn’t happen, he had hit nothing but thin air.

Just when the silver-haired girl was about to be chopped down from the slash, a scarlet light flashed; Her body instantly turned into a tight cluster of small bats, they dispersed and converged themselves to Ji Bai’s right side at the same time.

Ji Bai wasn’t the slightest bit shocked nor dazed that his slash missed. This was quite evident from his actions which didn’t have a pause between them. As a seasoned veteran, he had already experienced various types of unforeseen circumstances in battle, due to this, his body had formed a series of instinctive muscle memory a long time ago.

He leaned against his left foot and swiveled around, the long sword that he currently held up high in the air immediately changed directions. With an imposing aura that resembled a falling war hammer, he unleashed an unceasing stream of attacks that gave the young girl no chance to retaliate.

How does one deal with a demon that was impervious to swords and firearms? Whose body were many times bigger than their own?  The previous knight-king, ‘The Overwatch Knight’, had an answer to this.

【Watchers Fury】, With the long sword as its intermediary, the destructive force that this move could exert was similar to the smashing of a massive hammer. People who were proficient in this were able to turn an adult ogre into pulp with one attack.

Regardless of whether the target was a vampire known for their incomparably tenacious vitality, they would surely be left with only half their lives after being struck by this move.

“My God! Who is this guy? He actually dares to provoke Teacher Lin?”

“Who knows? There’s no way the academy would permit unrelated people to come in here. Could it possibly be just a challenge?”

“That can’t be it, right? No matter how I look at it, the two of them are battling with intense killing intent. Speaking of which, this guy is actually pretty good. He actually forced Teacher Lin to take evasive measures…” Whispers were happening at the side of the battle, and yet, it was certainly impossible for the two of them, who were currently in a heated battle against each other, to hear these whispers.

The silver-haired girl expressionlessly looked at the long sword that was smashing down towards her head.

Just when she had fallen into a moment of great peril, the space around them suddenly began to distort. Several transparent hands bred from the cracked seams, this caused Ji Bai’s motions to suddenly turn sluggish. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the girl turned into a sea of bats once more and escaped the attack range of the long sword.

Magic was an ability that every demon awakened in their adulthood. Compared to the sacred abilities of knights, their varieties and adaptive ability were much scarier. Each and every royal member of the demonic family had a certain source of magic that could suppress all other magic and sacred abilities, their intensity varied depending on how thick their bloodlines were. This was also the reason why it was very difficult to fight against grand dukes and earls of the demonic race, as the bodies of these nobles all had the blood of the royal family coursing inside them.

‘Crack! Crack! Crackkk!’ The long sword crumbled into infinitesimal pieces and dropped to the ground with the sound of breaking glass, the ground began to let out crisp noises and had caved in with fissures around it.

“What a shame…” He said as he saw the young lady dodge to a place nearby him, Ji Bai meaningfully shook his head. He then turned his eyes towards Ke’er, the cat-girl was still in a state of panic.

“Why did you have to do that?” Once she, the silver-eyed girl saw Ji Bai turn his eyes towards the cat-girl, an indiscernible trace of panic whizzed past the eyes of the silver-eyed girl.

“Why?…” Ji Bai gave a sarcastic smile and pointed his sword towards the girl’s skull. “Don’t think that you disguised yourself flawlessly. People might not be able to tell, but do you honestly think this foul and wretched vampiric smell of yours can deceive my nose? This granddaddy can sniff it out from 800 miles away!”

The silvered-hair girl: “???”

“What is this guy talking about? …Everyone knows that Teacher Lin is a vampire right? What’s there worth to be bragging about?” A student on the side muttered.

“Hold on a second, I think this guy appears to be a visitor with bad intentions…” A few of the students narrowed their eyes. They had seemingly deduced something from the situation that was unfolding.

What surprised Ji Bai was that even though he had exposed the girl’s vampiric status in front of everyone, what he had gotten back in return was instead a murderous gaze from the people around him. ‘What exactly is happening?’
