Chapter 56: Soul Devourer

Like purity and despair; silver and black intertwined and adorned the short, one-piece gothic dress that was fluttering in the night sky. Below the short dress, a pair of white stockings wrapped a pair of delicate ankles. Her pure silver hair glistened with luster underneath the moonlight while her calm scarlet eyes revealed not the slightest trace of emotions.

It wasn’t until the chilly wind blew past her face, did Lil’ Sha, who was being held within the arms of the girl, come back to her senses. Her golden pupils timidly came into contact with her scarlet pupils. Meanwhile, the crowd of tiny scarlet bats crowded around her like stars surrounding a moon, as if they were subjects serving their queen.

Lil’ Sha shivered as she swallowed a mouthful of saliva. As long as one wasn’t blind, they would be able to tell what race the girl belonged to from the bats crowding around her, her dress and the pitch-black wings on her back.

Vampires…

‘I-I haven’t been thrown out of the frying pan, into the fire, have I?? …Eh? Why are the facial characteristics of this girl somewhat familiar?  It seems somewhat similar to Big Sister Lin?’ A series of questions arose in Lil’ Sha’s mind while she was in a state of fear.

“Are you alright?” A puerile and mellow voice like the chirps of a black-naped oriole and as melodious as the chimes of a silver bell resounded. However, it was filled with nothing but coldness.

“Erm…Uh huh? N-No…” Only after Lil’ Sha’s dull pupils had looked at the girl for a long time did she wake up from her dream and come back to her senses. Realizing that the other side was asking herself a question, she immediately nodded her head and responded.

The girl nodded her head. After ascertaining that Lil’ Sha was fine, she looked down towards the third floor, at the crowd of trolls that was crowded around at the balcony.

“Vampire??” As it stared at the shadow below the moonlit night, the red-haired troll narrowed its eyes. With a tone that gradually imbued itself with traces of caution and politeness, it said, “The little vampire girl over on that end. We do not wish to become hostile towards you, so can I ask that you do not interfere with our feuds towards the other races.”

The first great clan of demons—the vampires. When faced with such a species, even trolls that possessed zero worldly knowledge and acted in rude, unreasonable, brainless ways will feel a deep sense of fear. They would absolutely not fight against them unless it was the last resort.

Right, you all have been so silent, I have almost forgotten about it..

The cold wind blowing towards Ji Bai’s face carried her hair upwards as her cherry-like lips traced a meaningful smile.

“Do you want to dance in a tune with me, venerable Miss of the Cat Race?” With one hand holding onto Lil’ Sha’s waist and another holding onto her hand, Ji Bai slightly bent her body and performed a noble etiquette so flawless, it was out of a textbook.

“Eh? A-A dance?” Lil’ Sha froze slightly.

“That’s right~” Her scarlet pupils that resembled superior ruby stones were filled with the smile of a little imp.

“A dance of death~”

 ………..

Inside the underbush on the ground.

“…Hello? Say, do any of you know what happened?” Huo Lei took the initiative and asked. He stared blankly at the girl in the sky that was holding onto Lil’ Sha.

“Umm…From what this poor Taoist had observed, that…seems to be a vampire.” Pian Zi waved his horsetail whisker and wiped away the sweat on his forehead.

“Lin, is that your relative?” Huo Lei shifted his gaze from the figure that he had been staring constantly to Lin, who had yet to open her mouth.

“…It should be, but I have never seen her before.” Lin slightly frowned. The unidentified girl in the sky had given her an enormous shock. As a vampire, Lin should naturally have much more information than everyone else.

An ordinary vampire, even if it is a noble that carried a bit of the royal bloodline, could only summon black-colored bats. Yet in the air, the bats summoned by this girl, who had suddenly intruded into the battlefield, were scarlet…

The blood prison bats. These are familiars that only people who are directly related to the royal family were able to summon…

Lin looked at pure silver hair that contained neither a trace of impurity once more and compared it against her silver-grey hair. Her heart already had an answer, no matter how unbelievable it was.

“How did a vampire from the royal household…get here?” Lin Tuo was softly muttering to himself at a corner. He adjusted the glasses that were on his nose as he looked at the girl in the sky.

“Uhm…” A weak voice interrupted the thoughts of everyone.

“Mhm? What’s wrong, Ke’er?”

“Where is Mr Ji Bai?! …He fell down just a while ago!” As she looked at everyone that had seemingly forgotten about that fact, Ke’er was so anxious that tears were about to fall out of her eyes. Ignoring the condition of the injuries on her body, she wanted to stand up.

“Dang, I have forgotten about that!” Huo Lei slapped his head. Just when he was preparing to rush out and find Ji Bai, he was stopped by Lin Tuo’s outreached hand.

“Relax, it wouldn’t be that guy’s turn to die even if all of us were to die here.”

  ……….

“Friend of the vampire clan, we do not wish to become your enemy. If you truly like that cat, then just take it.” The red-haired troll saw the girl was silent and refused to talk to it. Realizing that it had clashed against someone formidable, it could only sighed and dropped the subject. He really didn’t want to provoke the terrifying and powerful vampires just for a weak cat.

Ji Bai neither denied nor affirmed his decision, and merely smiled sweetly at him. Before her smile had merely melted, a pressure that was similar to a heavenly pagoda descended downwards. The troll’s foot soldiers on the scene felt their heart sink. Before they realized what had exactly happened, they had already fallen down to their knees and into the ground, like a series of dead fish with no vitality in them.

“Crack, crack!” It wasn’t only them. The bloodline power released through this 【Divine Vein】was so intense, it was able to affect inanimate objects with no life in them. The entire building was currently falling apart as cracks expanded outwards, releasing a noise that suggested it was on the eve of collapse.

At the same time, countless thick and long blood whips securely wrapped themselves around the troll foot soldiers and dragged them out, one by one, from the building that was on the eve of collapsing.

Bloody and dark red color. Those are colors that signified the primordial power coming from a vampire’s 【Divine Vein】. This unadulterated and fatal dark red color became the troll foot soldiers’ nightmare.

Upon seeing that, the red-haired troll immediately activated the trace of 【Divine Vein】inside its body, barely avoiding the blood whips that had come over to bind him. However, a few scarlet bats had taken advantage of the chaos to come over and bite various parts of its body, dragging it out while it was still alive.

“W-What is this damnable thing?!” The troll urged the trace of 【Divine Vein】  in its body with the intent of shattering these bats, yet found that its primordial magic had been firmly suppressed by those bats, as if it was on its death throes.

In an instant, the troll and its subordinates were hauled up to the skies together, with the other end of the countless strips of blood whips attached to the hand of the silver-haired girl. The troll foot soldiers that were bound to the other end had been reduced to a crowd of marionettes that were at the mercy of others.

“Ughhh!!” As they suddenly felt the surging blood within their bodies gradually leaving their bodies, the troll foot soldiers let out a wailing call of pain.

These blood ropes that were tied to them were forcefully drawing out the blood within their bodies!

While the trolls began their frantic and pointless struggles, Ji Bai, on the other hand, was holding onto the countless amount of blood whips, smiling at the red-haired troll that had been restrained by the blood prison bats.

“You…You’re from the vampire royal family??!” The leader of the troll cried out in fright.

Ji Bai smiled in silence and didn’t answer its question.

“Blood is something that definitely should be drawn bit-by-bit. Only then will it be painful~ After all, we’re not some kind of demon now, aren’t we?” Ji Bai smiled at the troll leader as she attentively listened to the extremely tragic howls coming from the troll foot soldiers.

“You, you…”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry~ I will definitely not suck in those smelly blood of yours, I don’t want to have a diarrhea after all~…However, even though the blood of you trolls doesn’t fit my appetite, there’s something here that’s actually not a fussy eater, you know?”  With a casual pull, the shriveled troll bodies that had been sucked dry of blood were thrown away. Then, with a smooth wave, a large bone sickle emitting a terrifying aura appeared in Ji Bai’s hand.

“Soul Devourer!? You…You’re the immediate princess of the vampires??” At this point, the troll truly felt an impulse to cry. Now that it thought of it, it really regretted its action; it shouldn’t have participated in this operation.

The direct relatives of the vampire’s royal household was an existence in this world where one must not provoke, not even if they had a hundred lives.

As every generation could only have a direct descendant, it was needless to say that every direct relative was treated as a gem and praised to the skies by the entire race.  What’s more, vampires are the number one clan in the demon race. Even if one were to disregard the enormous vampire empire behind them, a vampire’s 【Divine Vein】 was so powerful that it was practically abnormal. Even if one was blind, there was no way they dare provoke a direct relative of the vampire.

“Seems like you have quite the knowledge~ Then you should also know that if this guy penetrates you, it will suck in everything, including your soul? …Hehe…In the truest sense, you’d be unable to reincarnate and be stuck in hell forever~ ” Ji Bai had a smiling expression on her face as she moved and blew air into the troll’s ear.

“No, no-no…Princess, your highness the princess…This is just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding! My lowly self fails to recognize your mighty self and offended you. May your highness show her magnanimity and spare…”

“Do you know something?”Ji Bai’s voice turned cold and lightly swung the massive bone sickle in her hand as if it was nothing.

“I hate it the most when someone addresses me as Your. Highness. The. Princess!”

“Stab!” The massive bone sickle pierced through the demon’s chest.
