Chapter 151: Cannot let him escape~

“There’s no need for such overly complicated steps to deal with a scum who killed his own teacher… Even without the use of magic, this Missus could chop you into human jerky all the same. It’d be best for Mr. Lan Yu to worry whether his head will still be attached to his body tomorrow~” Bai Ji revealed her canine teeth and smiled as she tightened her grip around her scythe. The demon wings on her back kicked into high gear with a flap, sending dust flying upwards.

“Oh? Is that so?” Lan Yu’s veins protruded as he opened his large mouth to reveal two rows of disorderly large teeth.

“Roar…!!” A dark, greyish turbid gas poured outwards.

Bai Ji’s pupils abruptly contracted. Putting her sickle sideways as if performing on a high bar, she contracted her body and shot her legs outwards at the same time to land a ferocious kick onto Lan Yu’s chin.

“Thud, thud, thud!…” Her feet resembled whips that incessantly struck against him.

After eating this much pain with nothing to show for, Lan Yu immediately stopped spurting out turbid gas while his tight grip over the scythe began to loosen as well.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Bai Ji retrieved Soul Devourer. Her legs continuously trampled against Lan Yu’s abdomen, making “pa-pa” noises. After which, she spread her wings with a flap and took to the skies once more, maintaining her distance to Lan Yu.

Lan Yu narrowed his eyes upon seeing Bai Ji taking to the air once more completely unscathed.

‘Is she planning to have a war of attrition by relying on her flying ability and movement speed?’

With his eyes focused on Bai Ji in the air, Lan Yu muttered an incantation through the corners of his mouth.

Suddenly, Bai Ji felt her wings growing heavy. It was as if a large, formless hand had reached out from the ground and was continuously dragging herself downwards.

In a spate of helplessness, she stretched out her demonic wings and slowly gilded downwards.

It seemed as if some invisible change had unknowingly happened to the space around her.

“Hehe, stop wasting your strength. This is [Disaster Class—Eagle-Binding Net]. A spell specialized to deal with creatures capable of flight. It’d be best if you give up on trying. Did you really think that this sovereign being is helpless against you??”

“There are actually people bored enough to invent a [Spell] like this?” Bai Ji withdrew her wings and tilted her head to the side.

“Miss Radiant is misguided. It had actually been your vampire seniors who invented this magic… This humble self had also heard that the hair of the royal family is silver. Pardon me for being presumptuous to ask this, but could you be…”

“Boom!” Once again, another small bat smashed into Lan Yu’s side.

“Hehe… Forget it. Everything will be clear once this sovereign being swallows you!”

“Haaa~ You can eat me or do whatever you like… If you have the ability to accomplish that, that is.” Bai Ji harrumphed and rushed towards him in quick succession.

[Crushing Class— Plundering Swarm]

Countless small bats obscured Lan Yu’s line of sight as they incessantly knocked against his body like raindrops on a window pane.

“If the renowned vampire race only has this much ability, you’re definitely going to disappoint this sovereign being.” Lan Yu brandished his powerful long arms and smashed the small bats incessantly attacking him to the ground.

Although all of the little bats had fallen to the ground and his field of vision returned to normal, Bai Ji’s presence was already nowhere to be found.

Just when he was searching for Bai Ji’s tracks, a massive, sinister scythe appeared directly above him.

“May I request for you to drop dead~ Mr. Unruly Beast.” The corner of Ji Bai’s lips drew back to form a wisp of a chilly smile.

However, what originally should have been an expression of despair on Lan Yu’s face was unexpectedly revealed to be a smile suggesting she had fallen into his schemes.

“Miss Radiant, you’ve fallen into my trap.”

[Spell] completed.

At this instance, the inscription carved on Lan Yu’s body began to burn with luster.

‘A concealed [spell]??’

Bai Ji was slightly shocked.

“Do you think I’d leave myself completely unguarded?? This spell is something I’ve spent a month engraving onto myself… Its trigger condition is: When something threatens my life.”

“Roar…”

A massive magical formation appeared in midair, blocking the space between Bai Ji and Lan Yu.

[Disaster Class — The Quagmire of Sloth]

The formation speedily materialized to reveal its true appearance as a massive, soft, and meat-like substance.

The swift strike of Bai Ji hit nothing but air. Upon seeing that she was about to fall into the soft meat pit, she extended her demon wings. But as she tried to fly upwards, she realized that the [Eagle Binding Net] was covering this place.

‘Darn it, it looks so disgusting! This will definitely ruin my hair! No way I wanna fall into that!’

“Plop!” She fell into the soft bubble gum-like quagmire no matter how much she struggled.

‘Uwa! What is this stuff! It’s gooey and sticking to my hair. How gross… This disgusting cockroach. When this missy gets up, I will definitely shatter your body to pieces…’

Just as she got herself back up from the ground with trembling fingers, her body lost its strength; Like a human made out of jelly with no bones and muscles whatsoever, she collapsed to the ground once more.

An indescribable sense of indolence rapidly spread through her limbs, making her feel as if she was hiding under a quilt on a cold winter day. That sort of leisurely and lazy sensation was magnified a hundred times, as if every cell from her head to her toe were hindering her from getting up.

‘Eeeh… I’m so tired. I don’t wanna move and fight anymore~’

Bai Ji’s eyelids were drooping as she lay paralyzed within the soft substance. The absolute lack of power in her body betrayed her desire to get up as she incessantly sunk downwards into the quagmire.

‘To have such vast amount of [Magic] to release two [Disaster-class] spells in such a short time… How many living creatures had their magic extracted from their body?’

“Hahahaha… It’s useless! Don’t think of getting out once you’ve fallen in there! Be a good girl and let this sovereign being swallow you!” The sarcastic laughter turned increasingly softer in Bai Ji’s ears. Her eyes turned vacant as her body incessantly sank downwards into the soft, meat-like pit.

“Hahahaha…! What does [Magic] from a vampire royalty taste like? Let this sovereign being have a taste.”

“Boom!” A small flame bullet exploded on Lan Yu’s back.

“Hmm?” His body swayed slightly. Narrowing his eyes, he turned around.

“L-Let go of Benefactor-chan! You baddie… Awooo…” Blue fell to the ground with a flip after being slapped in the face.

She covered her small, red, swollen cheeks as several wisps of blood flowed out from the corner of her mouth.

“You’d better behave yourself in front of this sovereign being. You’re just a side dish! Don’t interrupt me from cooking and taking care of the main course.”

“Danum et bonodicontur en munde……”

[Disaster Class — The Quagmire of Sloth]

All of a sudden, the soft substance pit that contained Bai Ji began to vanish. As if time had rewinded, it reverted into its embryonic stage and then into a formation before eventually disappearing.

With her shackles now gone, Bai Ji fell to the ground.

“What?! The spell has lost its effectiveness?? …No way, there is still some magic remaining, how can this…” Lan Yu’s eyes grew wide open, as he didn’t want to believe the oddity that had happened before him.

“Don’t tell me… it has been canceled out??” Lan Yu warily eyed his surroundings for a moment.

Even though he had grasped some of the Deepspeak language used for [spells] as well as the techniques to unleash them, his knowledge regarding them was minuscule at best.

However, he understood that it was completely impossible for problems— such as a spell being interrupted or losing its effectiveness— to surface unless the caster was incapable of paying the magic energy. It was even more unlikely when it came to magic such as the one he was using, which relied on a one-time off magic energy expenditure….

‘Unless someone hiding in the dark has used several times the magic energy this spell requires and complicated Deepspeak as the price to forcefully cancel it out.’

‘No matter what… There is not much magic left in my body…’

‘Shit… I was so close!’

Noticing that Bai Ji lying in front of him was on the verge of awakening from her slumber, Lan Yu ferociously gritted his teeth.

‘It’s definitely impossible to swallow her down in such little time… This brat would definitely wake up in the middle…’

‘Since that’s the case, I will turn every human in this city into my pawns for power!’

When he arrived at this conclusion, Lan Yu murmured a flying spell and flapped his wings. He then shattered the sewer roof into pieces and left.

…………

In the darkness.

“Heeh, really interesting~” A silver-haired girl extinguished a streak of scarlet [magic] on her finger, a hint of delightful smile streaking across the corners of her mouth.

She took out a small pink handphone decorated with cartoonish drawings and dialed a number.

“Hey, hey~ Is this Yiyi-chan? It’s me. Ehehe~ I suddenly realized that little student called Ji Bai is very lovable~ I’ve changed my mind~ Help me silence the mouths of those executives in the assembly.”

“That’s right… You definitely, definitely~ mustn’t let him escape. He is mine…”
