Chapter 124: Community Service1

“D-Don’t come closer! Uhuhu~”

“Ehehe~ …Nya-Nyaa?!”

As their faces were about to collide, the soles of Ke’er’s feet slipped, causing her to fall onto Bai Ji and into the bath.

“Uuu… Guruguru…” Bai Ji opened her eyes wide as Ke’er’s snow-white neck was almost within her reach.

‘So delicious… It looks so delicious! Just one bite and I’ll pierce through her tender skin and into her artery…’

‘I-I can’t endure it anymore~ Thirsty… So hungry, I want to drink something…’

Under this passionate desire, her patience had finally crossed a tipping point.

The pupils of her scarlet eyes constricted, she tenaciously stared at Ke’er’s snow-white neck and drew back the corners of her cherry lips to reveal her fangs.

‘Sorry, Ke’er… I really can’t endure it anymore!’

“Flutter…” As water droplets splattered around, a petite silver silhouette leaped out from under the water’s surface and counterattacked.

‘Time~ To~ Eat~’

“Awooo” Bai Ji covered Ke’er eyes and pierced her sharp fangs through the skin of her neck.

‘Delicious!’

Sweet fresh blood similar to honeydew flowed down Bai Ji’s fangs and incessantly poured into her mouth, filling her dried-up stomach and intestines.

Her scarlet eyes were filled with excitement and greed, as she insatiably sucked the sweet liquid to savour it in her mouth.

‘Seems like I’m getting somewhat addicted…’

“Ahn…” Ke’er, whose eyes were still covered by Bai Ji’s hands, let out an uneasy moan as she felt the blood incessantly being drained from her body.

Bai Ji, now completely subservient to her instincts, had completely pushed Ke’er’s feelings to the back of her mind. Pressing her down and piercing her fangs deeper inside Ke’er, she incessantly extracted Ke’er’s blood and swallowed it down to the bottom of her stomach. Any intention of stopping had now been wiped from her mind.

“Uuu~ …Mr. Ji Bai… It hurts…”

“Prprpr…”

Bai Ji had thoroughly been swallowed by the mire that was the desire for blood. She was all but completely oblivious to Ke’er’s words as her hands dispelled the shackles that were obstructing her vision.

“M-Mr… Ji Bai?” In the midst of her hazy consciousness, a few strands of silky silver hair landed on Ke’er’s cheeks. Their faint, cape jasmine-like fragrance caused her to feel somewhat absent-minded.

‘Silver hair, this isn’t Mr. Ji Bai’s hair color… So, is this…’

“…Slurp~” Bai Ji gradually withdrew her fangs from Ke’er’s neck before licking her small scarlet lips.

‘It’s been a very long time since I’ve sampled the fresh, hot blood of a young girl! What a nostalgic delicacy~ I’m so full~~ My stomach is filled to the point of bulging. I feel so satisfied right now.’

‘Thank you for the meal~’

Wiping away the bloodstains from the corners of her mouth, Bai Ji released the two hands holding onto Ke’er and slowly got herself up from a prone position.

As she looked at Ke’er who had fallen unconscious inside the bathtub, Bai Ji became slightly stunned. Only then did she realize how crazy her prior actions had been.

“Waahu! This is bad~ I still didn’t manage to hold back in the end… It’s over, it’s all over, I was too invested in sucking her blood…” Bai Ji supported Ke’er and revealed a bitter smile as she looked at the distinct bite marks on her neck.

‘I guess these won’t disappear for a while…’

Bai Ji was filled with regret and self-reproach as she looked at Ke’er, whose complexion had turned pale due to blood loss.

More importantly, if Ke’er still recalled the moments when she was drunk, she wouldn’t be able to wash her crimes away even if she jumped into the sea…

At the moment, Bai Ji could only pray that this portion of memory would completely vanish from Ke’er’s mind once she woke up from her deep, alcohol-induced stupor.

“Mr. Ji Bai~…”

“Ah, mhm?” Bai Ji quivered as she turned towards Ke’er.

Realizing that it was merely her unconsciously sleep-talking, Bai Ji heaved a sigh.

‘So, why did Ke’er drink, and who gave her the alcohol?’

Bai Ji’s eyes narrowed. Carrying Ke’er in her arms, she left the bathroom and laid her down on the sofa to rest.

Her scarlet eyes cast towards the table in the living room, at the beer bottle with its lid opened.

…………

‘Ummm… My head is spinning. I wouldn’t have drunk this much had I known earlier~ So uncomfortable (>﹏<)’

Ke’er half-opened her eyes and shook her small head. One of her cat ears was hanging down while the other one was sticking out.

‘I seemed to have had a pretty strange dream.‘

Ke’er propped up her body and found herself lying on a sofa. Taking a look around, she realized that the beer bottle had disappeared from the table.

“Are you awake?” A calm voice entered her ears.

“Ehhh? ~Mr. Ji Bai, are you already done with your bath?”

“Mhm.” Ji Bai, who was sitting at the other end of the sofa, nodded.

“I see… Oh, that’s right, the bread…”

“I’ve eaten it.”

“Eh? How long did I sleep?”

“Probably the entire afternoon.” Ji Bai shot a glance at the setting sun outside the window.

“Eeh?? Ke’er was asleep for this long? She still hasn’t started with the chores even at this hour… Mr. Ji Bai will definitely reject her, and chase her out the front door, right?…” Ke’er pitifully hugged her head.

“How could that be? It must be tough for you to live with someone so incompetent in household chores as I am. Instead, I should be thanking you for living with me. Rest well. I have something little that I need to attend to and will return in a bit.” Ji Bai rubbed Ke’er’s head. Carrying a sack containing his broken armor, he walked towards the door.

‘This has developed quite perfectly. Ke’er didn’t mention anything about that previous incident. I suppose she doesn’t recall the memories of that time.’

‘As for the fang markings, the problem shouldn’t be that significant as it will disappear soon. I reckon it won’t attract any attention.’

Ji Bai was slightly relieved as he vowed to himself to never let something like this repeat itself.

As her back faced Ji Bai in an angle, Ke’er’s hands brushed over the fang marks on her neck and a trace of a crafty smile appeared on her cute face.

“Open up, we’re here to check the water meter2.”

Ji Bai stopped just as he reached the front door.

“The water meter is outside.” He stated calmly.

“We’re here to check the gas!”

“The gas meter is also outside.” Ji Bai remained unmoved as before.

“Open up the door! Community service!”

“My house is already well serviced3. In fact, there’s a beast-eared lady servicing me in my bed every night.”

“Guh…! How despicable, this undaunted chap…”

“Can you question him a bit more seriously? Sorry, but I must bother you to open the door, comrade. We’re members of the moon knights’ investigation division and have come here under orders. I’d like you to cooperate with us.” A slightly more sturdy voice arrived from beyond the door.

“Click.” Ji Bai opened the door.

On the other side stood two men clad in moon knights’ gowns. One was of medium height and had a pair of small eyes, while the other was slightly shorter and sported a beard.

“You’re the brat who accepted the sewer mission, aren’t you? Quite the mischievous one, huh?” The bearded man sized up Ji Bai and spoke in a peculiar tone.

“I’m flattered.” Replied Ji Bai calmly.

“Sorry for interrupting. We have come under orders. Can you let us in for a chat?” Said the medium-statured man in a sturdy tone while gesturing with a nod.

“I don’t have any slippers in my house, and the little housekeeper who’s in charge of maintaining hygiene is resting for today. If there’s anything you want to say, say it here. I won’t be inviting you in.”

“You…! Who do you think you’re talking to??” The bearded man got so angry that his beard was about to turn sideways from anger. He pointed his fingers at Ji Bai for quite a while, and yet was incapable of saying a word back.

“No worries, as long as you believe that you can answer the questions in two or three sentences, comrade.” The medium-statured man frowned slightly as he said this in a strict tone.

“If my humble self’s guess is right, the two of you must have come to ask about what happened in the underground sewers, right?”  Said Ji Bai expressionlessly.

“Hmph, why ask when you already know! I advise you to truthfully confess to prevent yourself from being subjected to physical pain!”

“Ol’ Gan, the reason why we came here is to inquire about the details concerning the incident from this student, not to interrogate him as a prisoner. Keep your attitude in check.” The medium-statured man gestured for the aggressive bearded man to fall back.

  1. The original title was “Warmth from the community”, basically a form of outreach program where the neighborhood committee in China will meet up with folks in the nursing home or similar organizations to do some charity activities together. It is also used online as some sort of ridicule or warning to tell people not to blabber too much, as doing so will cause the police to raid them.
  2. This is a pretext that the police use to barge into other people’s houses.
  3. Remember the warmth in the community as the title? This was what was used in the original text. The original text was a wordplay on “warmth”, with Ji Bai saying that his house was very warm and there’s a beast-eared lady warming his bed every night. But I have to switch it up because of how it wouldn’t sound nice in English. :)
