Observation Chapter 6: An Astonishingly Efficient Delivery Service

Liuli: ‘May I ask if you’re the author who goes by the pen name “That Blooming Prosperity”?’

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘Yes, I am.’

Liuli: ‘Blooming-sama, may I ask why I can no longer assess “The Observation Center of the Abnormal Girls”? I’ve just finished reading a portion of it today, having bought all the chapters, but there are still a considerable amount of chapters left for me to read.’

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘Do you have a screenshot of the purchase?’

Liuli: ‘Yes, I’ll send it to you now.’

After opening the screenshot, Lin Qian saw that they had, indeed, purchased the entire novel.

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘It was delisted due to a rule violation. How about this? I’ll forward the chapters you haven’t read to you.’

Liuli: ‘Thank you, Blooming-sama~!’

Realizing that Liuli had just 10 chapters left to read, Lin Qian sent these over as a token of compensation to them.

Liuli: ‘Will you be launching a new series soon, Blooming-sama?‘

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘Of course! I’m in the process of writing a light-hearted novel.’

Liuli: ‘A lighthearted novel?! You’re actually writing that? Why? We’re all having a blast reading those dark stories; lighthearted novels just don’t scratch that itch. What’s the point of those lovey-dovey exchanges? Blooming-sama, your dark and twisted novels are absolutely the best. It’s such a shame others can’t see that and are missing out on something so amazing. I get so immersed in them when I’m reading it~’

Liuli: ‘I even feel like the female character in the story~‘

Seeing this, Lin Qian suddenly regretted that they hadn’t encountered each other earlier; The feeling of being understood by someone was truly wonderful.

It dawned on him that this might be what it felt like to find a soulmate.

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘I’m left with no choice. The stats for my novels are abysmal. No one is buying the chapters, tipping me or using their monthly tickets. I’ll starve to death if I don’t switch up my writing style.’

Liuli: ‘How unfortunate… *Hug~* Don’t worry, I’ll read anything as long as you’re the one writing it, Blooming-sama. I can wait, so please keep writing those dark and depraved novels, alright~’

“…”

‘I guess this person is a die-hard fan of dark and depraved novels. Maybe they’re an old psychopath. That explains why they’re so into them.’

Few people could fully immerse themselves while reading dark and depraved novels.

Either way, it was out of the question for him to write dark and depraved novels. At least until he could put food on the table.

From this point onward, he would dedicate himself to writing Gary Sue novels.

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘Probably. I haven’t decided whether I’ll continue with this genre in the future.’

Liuli: ‘… Please don’t lose heart like this, Blooming-sama. What if I offer you some financial support so that you can continue your work?”

“…”

Lin Qian smiled and shook his head.

From an author’s perspective, those words came across as somewhat immature and idealistic.

Nevertheless, that offer was driven by good intentions, something he deeply appreciated.

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘There’s no need for that. As long as I’m not starving, I’ll keep writing. After all, there are readers like you supporting me.’

Liuli: ‘Blooming-sama, I’ll make sure to remember those words~ Liars will be punished, you know~’

That Blooming Prosperity: ‘Haha. Well, I’ve got to get going. You should probably get some rest yourself. Good night.’

‘What an adorable reader.’

After sending that message, Lin Qian closed the chat window.

He had already pushed this conversation to the back of his mind.

And began writing!

一一一一一一一

As someone who had once penned words with diabolical ease, Lin Qian now felt trapped as he stared at the gloomy blank document page in front of him.

‘How do I even go about writing a lighthearted novel?’

‘Is this going to be the first series in my writing career I have to draft an outline for?’

‘Given my tendency of improvising things as I go, wouldn’t that be the end of me?’

He quickly went on the internet to search for information on creating an outline.

His long fingers clutched the mouse as he directed the cursor to the plus sign at the corner of the browser, which indicated the creation of a new tab.

Right at this very moment!

“Thud!!!”

A series of urgent knocks resounded from his door.

“Darn it, that’s too loud. What am I gonna do if the neighbors complain to the landlady about the noise tomorrow?” Lin Qian slightly twitched his brows. “Has the delivery already arrived? That was fast!”

Aside from delivering take-out, there was no reason for anyone to knock on his door in the dead of the night.

Lin Qian left his seat. Getting to his feet, he casually checked the time on his computer.

19/05/2020 01:15:50.

“…”

‘Wait a minute…’

‘Isn’t this delivery… a bit too fast?’

‘I believe… I placed the order at 1:05am?”

He wondered when [Doordash] had become this efficient. If he remembered correctly, [Uber Eats] usually took a minimum of 30 minutes to deliver his food…

Which kind of motorcycle did the rider come on?

Could he have gotten here by plane, perhaps?

“Thud~ Thud~ Thud♪~”

As if they could pick up on Lin Qian’s inner complaints, the knocking this time turned much gentler.

“…”

‘Why does this noise… sounds so odd…’

Lin Qian took his phone out and gave it a brief look.

“!!!”

This quick look of his made his hair stand on end.

The rider at [Doordash] had only just picked up his food.

Holy Mother of God!!!

‘You’re kidding me… So that’s not my order?’

‘Then who in the world is there?! Who’s knocking on my door in the dead of the night?!’

‘Maybe it’s a high-school girl who decided to run away at night? Or a young girl who had descended from the skies?’

‘As if!’

Such occurrences were far-fetched, even in fiction.

If they did exist, that high school girl who had allegedly ventured out of her house at night might potentially be a murderer with quite a number of human lives on her hands.

The young girl who descended from the skies could very well be an ancient demon with countless years of cultivation, capable of draining a man’s vitality over the smallest disagreement.

Lin Qian fixed his gaze on his metal grille. Even though only a few breaths had gone by, his back was already drenched in cold sweat.

‘Click, click, click…’

A weird clicking noise suddenly resounded.

The origin of the noise was close-by, at a place he was all too familiar with.

Lin Qian’s face lost all its color in an instant.

“!!!”

As it turned out, the source of the tapping sound came from his mechanical keyboard.

Despite the extremely pleasant sound produced by its switches, Lin Qian found them remarkably unpleasant in this situation.

After all, no one was using the keyboard…

…And he was the only one in the room.

Lin Qian swallowed a mouthful of saliva with difficulty, causing his Adam Apple to bob as he lowered his head slowly.

Despite his keyboard being motionless, the tapping sound continued to resonate incessantly.

“…”

‘I shouldn’t have encountered a ghost, right?!’

At this time, a line of letters appeared on the document titled [The Observation Diary of The Abnormal Girls].

[I found myself in the grips of extreme hunger following my shower. After scouring the entire house for food and coming up empty-handed, I picked up my phone…]

[I ordered a spicy hotpot…]

[Thud, Thud, Thud… A series of urgent knocks…]

[How strange, is delivery this fast nowadays?]

“Pitter-patter…”

Following a hushed set of footsteps, the knocking on the door resumed once more.

“Thud, thud~~❤”

This time the sound was incredibly gentle, as if a pretty high school girl was genuinely at the other side of the door.

“…”

“Pitter-patter…”

The tapping on the keyboard resumed.

Lin Qian cast another quick glance at the computer screen.

[The corridor, pitch-black as if covered in ink, echoed with the sound of muffled footsteps while accompanied by a set of exceptionally gentle door knocks. I was hesitant and unsure if I should open the door and investigate.]

[A figure …seemed to be standing there…]

“…”

‘Someone is in the corridor?!’

Without a second thought, Lin Qian decisively retrieved a spring bar from under his bed.

Back then, he had acquired it on an impulse to get fit.

True to form, the item ended up being stowed away beneath his bed, where it collected dust.

Even though he did not achieve his fitness goals, he had unexpectedly found himself turning to it for self-defense.

This situation left Lin Qian torn between tears and laughter.

“Pitter-patter…”

A set of black letters materialized on the screen once more.

[After lengthy deliberation, I eventually made up my mind to investigate. Prior to that, I reached under my bed to retrieve the workout spring bar, which icy coldness seeped through my palm through its handle. The spring bar was exceptionally durable and I could attest to its deadly potential, yet it failed to give me the slightest trace of security at this moment.]

“…”

This paragraph was absolutely on point; Even now, Lin Qian’s calves continued to tremble, revealing his extreme unease at this situation.

‘This is absolutely nuts!’

‘But I’m a real man, why should I be afraid?’

After taking several deep breaths, Lin Qian resolutely steeled himself for what was laying ahead. Leaning forward with the spring bar in his hand, he walked towards the metal grille.
